Air purifier for damp and mould
Ireland's wet climate makes damp and mould a common problem. An air purifier captures the airborne mould spores and the musty smell — genuinely useful, especially in a bedroom — but it isn't a cure on its own.
What the purifier does — and doesn't
A MERV-13 filter captures the microscopic spores mould releases into the air, lowering what you breathe and how fast it spreads. For the musty smell (a gas), add an activated-carbon stage. What it can't do is remove mould already growing on a wall, or fix the damp behind it.
Fix the cause too
Reduce moisture: ventilate, use extractor fans, avoid drying washing indoors, and deal with leaks or cold-bridge condensation. The purifier keeps the airborne spore load low while you tackle the source.

Does an air purifier help with mould in a damp Irish home?
It captures airborne mould spores and, with a carbon stage, the musty smell — reducing what you breathe. It won't remove mould on surfaces or fix the damp; you need to reduce moisture as well.
