Air purifier for solid-fuel, turf and coal smoke
Burning turf, coal and wood is one of the biggest sources of PM2.5 in Irish towns, especially on still winter evenings when the smoke hangs low. With windows closed, a high-airflow purifier with a MERV-13 filter keeps the room clean.
What to do when there's smoke
- Close windows and cut down ventilation while the air outside smells of smoke.
- Put the purifier in the room you use most (air doesn't clean through walls).
- Choose on CADR: the more clean air per hour, the faster the smoke particles fall.
- A MERV-13 filter captures the fine smoke particles, just like pollen and dust.

Does an air purifier remove turf and coal smoke?
It captures the fine airborne smoke particles (PM2.5) with a MERV-13 filter. For the smell, an activated-carbon layer helps. Close windows when there's smoke and leave the unit running.
